Arti applicate e tecniche artistiche. Metodologie, procedimenti, nuove tecnologie

edited by Luigi Agus

Nine essays that delve into the theme of artistic techniques and applied arts, having, as a common thread, the idea that the history of art – as Gombrich had already underlined – can also be interpreted as a series of technical progress. From Caravaggio, to whom some unpublished works are attributed through analyses that reveal his techniques, to artificial intelligence, understood as a means to create works of art, passing through the dual concept of executive and representative techniques, that of the aura for design objects, optical devices such as the kaleidoscope, the parallel between fabrics and wooden sculpture, between this and marble and, finally, an investigation into often neglected objects such as European and Oriental weapons. A journey through stimulating innovations read through an interdisciplinary methodological approach.

Editor: Luigi Agus, art historian and PhD, is a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo. Academic correspondent of the Real Academia of Cordoba, accredited researcher at the national archives and the National Library of Spain, member of the Comité Español de Historia del Arte, he has numerous publications to his credit, has held various conferences in Italy and abroad and he is editorial director of the scientific magazine Papireto.

Authors of the texts: Luigi Agus, Giuseppe Antista, Roberto Cassanelli, Alma Casula, Isabella Di Liddo, Claudio Gamba, Ricardo García Jurado, Giancarlo Germanà Bozza, Patricia Olivo, Rafael Ramos Sosa, Sergio Rossi, Stefano Valeri, Luca Vargiu.

Dalle officine alle Accademie nel Mediterraneo. Analisi e struttura delle botteghe d’arte in età moderna

edited by Luigi Agus

The volume, which inaugurates the new series I quaderni del Papireto of art criticism and history, collects 13 essays on the theme of the art workshop in the modern age, the first nucleus of which is the result of seminars held at the Academy of Fine Arts of Sassari in 2017, to which others were added later, aimed at widening the chronological gap to previous eras.
